Exciting car that I can fuel within the advisory fuel rates

I have another thread for the boring details.
15k used value. Reasonably fun car with 5 door practicality for the dog and weekends away.

If petrol has to be close to 15ppm fuel only to run.
If diesel has to be close to 12ppm fuel only to run.

Current contenders are Mk7 Golf, GTD or GTI. Mini F56 Cooper SD or Cooper S. I will stick with manual for now.

All suggestions appreciated!

Buy the car you want. I’d you want a cheap to run car buy one of the diesels, if you want something with a bit more go buy the petrols.

Back in 2005 I was doing business miles so bought a BMW 320td as the HMRC mileage rates would just about work, although I had wondered about a 325ti!

In 2014 I wasn't doing business miles and I bought a 325ti - that's when I realised what I had missed out on all those years before.

If you want the fun option and can afford it just buy it - life's too short not to!

I have no issue in paying for a not so economical car for personal use. But not for business.

If I’m loosing out on 7ppm over 15k, I’m £1k out of pocket using my current vehicle. I can claim some relief on that with HMRC but it’s a bit of a nonsense as it’s relief on your PAYE in the following year.

Hence why I want a vehicle that will get close to that 15ppm, which seems to work out at a real 40mpg average at current fuel rates.

Was looking into the Fiesta ST. However only the newest version comes in 5 door.
