Someone I know is possibly looking to trade in their S-Class for one of these. It's the 2.2d (Mercedes engine I think?) and 3-4 years old, hybrid no good as the apparently the boot isn't big enough.

Does anyone know what to look out for before buying? It's a main dealer. Cheers.

Yes it’s a Mercedes engine.

ZX10R-NIN will be along shortly to tell you that your mate is buying the best car on the planet.

Lots of car for the money.

Enjoy

biglaugh best car on the planet? That'll be my CLK C63 smile

They use the same 2.1d & drivetrain as used in the E220, the Q70 is behind the Q50 in terms of interior but the Q70 is a very nice place to be.

If your friend can live with a petrol then the Genesis is an option:

My only problem with the Genesis would be deciding which colour to choose...

Lol they're a nice car they're nicer with the lighter interior, the Q70 has the nicer interior but the Genesis is more spacious & it even manages to out spec the Q70, tell your friend to test drive both.

The badge looks like a Bentley so that's the important bit taken care of!

An old thread dragged up, but I have similar questions 2 years on.

My wife has had company cars in the past but looks like she may be moving jobs which requires quite a bit of time behind the wheel, but no company car.

Her family hack is a C63 so we want something to sit along side it that isn’t as expensive to stack some miles on, yet still big and comfortable. I’ve seen last of the line 2019 top spec Q70s for as little as £16k. These seem incredible value when the equivalent 5 series with less spec is closer to £25k...and to me seems a little bit more interesting than seeing another 5 series on the road.

As they so good value because in reality you can’t repair them when they go wrong and parts a nightmare? They seem to review pretty average when new, but I’m ok with that as we have nice cars to drive when we want it, this is very much a mile muncher but it does need to be reliable (and real world mpg seems to be mid 40s).

Anyone any thoughts or experience with the Q70? Would love to hear more about it.

Parts are fine as the last of the line Q70 uses the same drivetrain as the E220 but it'll cost less to service because you can get it done by Nissan.

Also Nissan offer a fixed price service/warranty package which may be handy if your OH will be racking up the miles.
Inside they're a very nice place to be if you find a Premium/Sport Tech model they have the added bonus of Adaptive Cruise.

They don't have Android Auto/Apple Car play but I've had the unit below installed on two cars (QX70/Q50) & it works well.

As for the rest of the car they ride well & eat up the miles with ease as you say finding something close with age/spec (air cooled seats 360 camera's etc) & you'll be spending a load more.

2019/68 this will come with 1 years warranty

If you don't mind one without the warranty then this 2017 for less than 13k then this is the sweet spot value mileage/value wise.

Thanks for this. It’s definitely going on the shortlist. Thinking of having a shift around of cars and maybe changing a few of them and putting more into something 2 seater and fun for sunny days that won’t depreciate much.

Now that sounds like a very good plan.
