Another new car query - My Audi went bang ! Evo X
Discussion
So, alas, the "new" car i bought in May went pop a number of weeks ago.
Nearly £5k in on the repair and the car will be coming back to me with a brand new engine (zero mile) and a brand new ECU and Wiring Loom.
Its been a nightmare. However i have lost all love and faith for the car. It will be going when it gets back. You don't expect such things with a 1 owner FSH car from Audi - least i didn't. Lesson learnt. It only has 82k on it too!
I know that the Evo has a major maintenance factor and you have to keep on top of them, i've ran high powered Jap turbo's before so am fully aware of the costs Subaru can throw at you, but, i'm hearing that the Evo X can be on another level entirely so i wonder if its worth parting with my money for one?
I want a car that i can love and love to drive. I know they can be problematic, but for 3 - 4k a year on a 2008 FQ 300 in standard form are the risk factors all that high. The model i've seen is a 1 owner and full Mitsi service history and it has the SST transmission.
If not, i guess my only alternative in the £12/13k mark for that kind of performance and 4 seats i'm looking at another subaru right? (Had 5 already).
Comments/Alternatives/Ideas, all welcome.

I've not heard much positive about the Evo X with the double clutch gearbox. Dull, but expensive. Service intervals are extended from the old 4500 miles, but it's still a costly car to run - thirsty, expensive parts, hard on consumables.
How about an older, better model? What model of Impreza haven't you had yet
?

Thanks for the input. That doesn't sound great. I guess that is why you can pick up a decent looking Evo X for 12/13k and the equivalent older cars are more expensive still. My preference is an Evo VIII FQ300 but none of them in my price bracket that are from dealers unforunately, not that i have found at least. How about an older, better model? ?As for Imprezas. I've had a GC8 Uk2000 classic, i've had a bugeye wrx, a hawkeye spec D sti and a hatchback STI.
The one i really want is the Lichfield Type 25 or 20 model but the only one for sale currently is (whilst lovely!) private and after the debacle with the Audi wanted to steer clear of private sales so i have some comeback or warranty.
I can live with an Impreza everyday i know that. I just felt maybe i should go to the darkside with an Evo and get something you don't see everyday and X's are few and far between where i live. I thought maybe it was cus' they were so good no one sells them but maybe its cus no one buys them

Ooh no Blobeye? Sorted then, get one of them
I think it's one of those cars where you'd regret the purchase pretty quickly. Mighty Car Mods (Marty) had one for a brief time - and it was brief - with all the same feedback. It was just a reasonably fast, thirsty, daily. Now they have a IX which is a weapon.
