Road trip car from South Wales to Athens
Discussion
What's the opinion on this conundrum? I have been going around in circles for the last few weeks...
I have a road trip in the next few week from South wales to Greece, through france, switzerland and Italy and back through Croatia etc.
Budget of £40,000
Enough space and seats for me the Mrs and Two teenage children.
Petrol or diesel considered fuel consumption not critical at all.
Must be fun as well as comfortable as the route will involve some nice driving roads.
Must be cool as I'm using to transport the bride at the other end!
This is genuinely draining me and need suggestions!
So far have looked at and considered. Bentley Arnarge T, Audi RS6, Mercedes S class, Jaguar XJR and Range Rover.
The family are saying Range Rover but I'm not so sure so any help would be much appreciated.

FFS £40K and you have to ask on here.
And what is it with car journeys being called "road trips" and old cars being called "barn finds".
FFS in 1990 I took my Polo Coupe S round France. It wasn't a "ROAD TRIP" I just went camping in France.
"Road Trip" shouts adventure, challenges and experiences.
The only experience you will have in a £40k car is worrying if some foreign scrote will hold you up at gunpoint.
An old 6 series convertible would do the job. But don't spunk £40k. You wont enjoy the trip just worry. And if you don't worry you have more money than sense.

Plenty of choice in that bracket. It sounds like space would be a major factor, to keep the teens happy, I'd seriously consider a Skoda Superb. They do two x 2.0 litre petrol engines, one is 220 bhp , the other is around 270 bhp with four wheel drive. Massive space in cabin and boot, whether the hatchback or estate and owners seem to really like them. You don't say whether you're looking at new or used but I'd stay below £40 list price because I would begrudge paying an extra £300 plus in tax every year for five years.

Still seats 4 and everyone feels very special.
Or you could get the quattroporte for more room.
