Yeah XKR was what I was pushing her towards but she shut that down sharpish.

Also wrote off the Boxster.

However she is onboard for a 996 911. I’m not mega keen but that may be the middle ground.

A bit far from what had been suggested so far, but what about a (A)W124 1990s Mercedes E-Class convertible; 220/320?

Won't lose money, although with a slightly sexist view I don't think would appeal to a woman, one of the few 'manly' convertibles..

Or there's the SL - R107 / R129 / R230 take your pick!

Z3 3.0cc poss under budget even with really low miles

E89 Z4's I think will hold on to around 10k for a while.

MX5 Recaro's seem to holding quite well. LSD, Brembo brakes, Bilstein suspension, and modern tech if that appeals to her.

VX220 Turbo but prob not for a daily.

Abarth 124 Spider will be down to 15ish in the next couple of months, lots coming off lease and no longer supplied new.

Have you driven/experienced one?

They are great fun, turn heads, and cheap as a used car for sub 20k.

My last three cars were far more expensive.
