Summer convertible - mini, 207cc or something else.
Discussion
Afternoon,
Looking for a summer car for the wife. Has to have four seats, with a budget of £1500-£2000. Seems to boil down to older Mercs, or 2005ish mini one, 2007ish 207cc's.
Mini's are 100k plus miles, Mercs suffer with rust.
I don't mind mechanical issues as I can fix those. I'd rather avoid messing with bodywork.
What are the 207cc's like?
I know they can suffer rust around the edge of the roof, but any other issues?
Anything else to consider?
Cheers.

Morris Minor convertible. Maybe one with some modern up-grades to seats & brakes. Easy DIY maintenance BUT the image not to everybody's taste, you will not be first away at traffic lights & maybe only Ok for local bumbling which is what they are best at.
Ford did a folding hard-top Focus Vauxhall a ditto Astra. Probably not the right badges though.
Back seat passengers in 4 seat convertibles will suffer from massive uncomfortable turbulence at anything other than walking speed.
Anything BMW going to be ratty rusty & too council.

My mam nearly bought a Colt CZC when they first came out. Ugly as sin but quite reliable from what I've heard and should be within budget now. The Micra CC is also hideous but probably not a bad buy.
I would be hunting down the aforementioned Saab or Volvo though, though an Audi A4 Cabriolet would be a safe option.
