Pre Reg BMW 530i - AUC discount

I've had some budget creep and all of a sudden I'm looking at cars £3k over what I wanted to spend (£30k max)

Any chance I could get close to that with these? It's a cash purchase which doesn't help, I'm in no rush, could wait until the new Reg is out

I reckon you might get close if you take their finance, get more BMW or dealer contribution, then settle it shortly afterwards

Thanks for the reply. I don't thing there will be any dealer contribution as not new car. I'll see what the come up with, I don't hold much hope as cheapest for 19 Reg anyway. I'm sure they'll shift them but saying that some 68 Pre Reg have been sitting around for some time.

The dealer will make a dealer contribution if you take a PCP out at a nice high interest rate. They will think you are a sucker and have ni qualms about dropping the price towards your budget.

You then have 14 days to withdraw from the agreement and you will only pay a small amount of interest, circa £6 a day.

How do I know? Because I bought my i8 this way a couple of months back.

I think what MOBB is implying is that it may be cheaper to buy a brand new one on Finance and then settle.

RRP on one of these is £45k+ with the options fitted to those examples. Don't think you'll get that down by 33% even f you do take the finance package.

OP, if you're in no rush then definitely wait until the new plate change is due and you stand a decent chance of picking up one of these for £30k would be my view.

I’m not as up to speed with BMW deals as I am with Audi but I just signed up for a stock A6 Avant with a list of £45,0000 and got it down to £30,000 due to a pressure to get stock cars out the door before the emission limits change in Sept.

I would recommend exploring the brand new stock 530i route before taking a pre-reg.

Note also it says mileage on application, there more likely demo cars with a couple of thousand miles than pre reg brand new.

Thanks, yes they are not delivery miles, have less than 5k though.

I’m in no rush so will wait until the right deal comes up, certainly no shortage of stock.

I might look at new via a broker first, there has been a spec change, you now get the new 3 series speedo dials, not sure how much impact that will have on values.

If you buy new/pre reg (with less than 500 miles) from stock you'll get some contribution from most of the dealers wich will get you nearer to your 33k target for a 530i:

Thanks for everyone’s help, I took a test drive in both the new 3 and 5 and felt for the price the 5 was a better buy, however the new 3 is very nicely fitted. I looked at the 330i M Sport rrp £39k, however an important thing for me is to have decent seat adjustment, these come with manual seats which I’ve not had since 1990’s. The only way to add them is to buy a option pack at £1700!!, £200-£300 ok but not that much.

Taking a drive last night down some fairly tight country roads I’m questioning now if I’m making the right choice, think I’ll hire one for the weekend or get a longer test drive, as mentioned no rush as I have a perfectly good car already, I’m just after a change.

Have you considered a 530e, 2018/19 cars with delivery miles seem to be around the same money as 530i's.

I have, in fact what got me interested in the 5 series. The battery range of approx 20 miles is just not enough. I’m a private buyer so won’t make use of the tax benifits. I’m concerned about running one out of warranty as it’s a complex machine.

There are lots around as they come off company leases and I’m sure lots more to follow, as they’ll have limited appeal to private buyers used I can only see the values dropping.
