First time Car leasing - Volvo S90
Discussion
Hello fellow motor enthusiasts,
I'm a newbie to the forum and also looking for some advice from your experiences. I'm leasing for the first time and the paper work has arrived. Leasing a Volvo S90 on 24 months contract and wonder if there is anything I should be aware of? There is about 14 pages to read and trying my best to understand it.
I'm also thinking to purchase GAP insurance straight from the dealer and they also offered 5 day free insurance.
Thanks
Harish

Get your gap cover from ALA who have a thread on here.
The S90’s usually dont have front parkies - check this, its a big lump,
Appreciate your help. I’ll look into ALA. The S90’s usually dont have front parkies - check this, its a big lump,
Front parkies - you mean front parking sensors?
Also, wonder if its worth taking service maintanence package included or excluded or it doesnt matter?

Read the allowed wear and tear and I believe the interest is fixed for 2 years.
Dealer haven’t quoted the insurance amount yet. Wonder how much it may cost for s90!?
I used the drive away cover however the quote they provided me with was about 2.5 times what I am actually paying elsewhere.Dealer haven’t quoted the insurance amount yet. Wonder how much it may cost for s90!?

By all accounts gap insurance is only useful to cover the cost of the initial rental on a lease - so if you're going for it make sure you're covered for the return of the full initial rental (or words to that effect). It's been discussed numerous times on here and no-one that has posted has ever needed it to cover the insurance loss of a leased car.
For other info on the car check out the S/V90 lease thread in the Volvo section. I've got a V90 R Design and it's a lovely place to sit and while away the miles/stationary traffic, but not what you'd call dynamic.
The first service is around £300 and the second around £450 (I'm sending mine back before this is due...). They also seem to enjoy munching front tyres so if you can get fully maintained for less than that it's a good deal.

The other thing to be aware of is that unless the car is in the UK, S90's seem to turn up when they turn up.
I ordered in April and was quoted delivery in September which I requested be delayed until early October when my current lease car goes back. Chased up last week and advised car is now due at the dealer 5th November. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it turns up in 2019 to be honest.

Placed mine mid may and I’m expecting it in a week or 2. Total 3 months which is really a good timeline.I ordered in April and was quoted delivery in September which I requested be delayed until early October when my current lease car goes back. Another vote for ALA - one of my main reasons for using them (aside from the price) was the positive stories from people who'd had to claim.
Still have 2 years to run on mine!

One last question - are there any providers who offer normal insurance and gap insurance together. Sorry if my question sounds silly.
NFU includes new car replacement certainly within first 12 months, maybe second year too but not sure (seems unlikely but I remember insuring my i3 with nfu for second year and not needing to worry bout gap cos the basic insurance covered it)oop north said:
