So am currently car-less, but once the debts are paid, and I've saved up some money, I'm going to consider buying another car, but this time, without any of the associated debt so I can actually afford to run it properly and enjoy it without resenting it.

My only really criteria is that it costs £4K or under, and has enough space for 2 people (including driver) and a tent and some luggage - that is my concession to practicality. Convertible is a bonus but would consider a car with a good sunroof too.

I've had 2 MX5's now so I'm not sure if I want another, but if I did, I would probably rather it was a turbo'd one for more thrills. The standard engine is a bit limp. I've also had 2 MR2s and the Mk3 was hopelessly impractical in my opinion, Mk2 less so but they're getting on a bit.

My first thing that comes to mind is a Boxster. A wildcard option would be an Abarth 500 but I'm slightly put off by talk of the crappy driving position, or maybe a Mini JCW (assuming you can get one for that price). I'd consider a Clio 172 Cup (has to be Cup though) even though I've had 2 RS Clios and both were made out of paper so I must be mad for even thinking about one of those again haha!

Any thoughts?
