Hi All, I'm on my first PCP and just realised my wife has already gone over the mileage. We've done 25k after 18 months and have 6 months remaining and a 24k allowance. I phoned up Alphera and they say it's 21p per mile over! They quoted 32.5k as a settlement, final payment in 6 months is 31.5k. Webuyanycar says it's worth 22.5k!
I guess this is a no-brainer to do a voluntary termination?
Should I pay someone to remove all the scratches and scuffs she has put on it before the assessor comes out?
Will they charge extra for an engine management light on? If so I had paid for servicing and warranty with the garage we bought it from so I guess I can get them to sort that out for me.

What did Alphera say they would want if you VT as they may well pro-rate the mileage still leaving you with the excess to pay, regards the blemishes, there will be a link in your paperwork or this will give you an idea:

As for EML lights etc, if they are covered why would you not get them sorted ?

I've not asked them about VTing yet. Yeah I guess if they pro-rata the excess miles then it's going to be the same amount to pay as in January when we have to change it anyway.

Yeah it sounds like a few marks are over and above fair wear and tear. I assume they charge you top dollar, main dealer rates for damage.

Where we bought it was 100 miles away so we've used a local garage and never had anything else wrong with it to claim on warranty. The local garage diagnostics said the EML was nothing to worry about.

I am going to quote this before it disappears. I feel it may be a classic PCP thread.

Why would you still be using it if it has an EML on? It does mean it needs attention and as the vehicle will be under warranty, so should be zero cost to sort.

Yeah it's not a manufacturer's warranty it's an extended warranty with a non-main dealer garage. Plus a 200 mile round trip to get it looked at for free, so when the local garage told us it's nothing to worry about and doesn't impact daily driving then we couldn't be bothered.

This might help you;

I believe there are some arguments about excess mileage charges being due if you VT. Be prepared for a fight if you want to 'get away' with that.

Was this PCP contract taken on a new car from dealer of the brand, or used car purchase on PCP? with extended or after market warranty?

An EML light is never just nothing. Its always something - even if its minor - its still something.....

Edit - just re read OPs last post.

Or when trolls created multiple accounts with names that weren't so obviously similar?

Very odd, I do wonder what people get out of this kind of thing. Is it just desperation for attention?
