All rounder for under £10k

Hello All - looking for an all rounder / family car. Budget is around £7-10k max. Want an automatic that's frugal (around 50mpg), has low road tax, ULEZ compliant, suitable for local trips and also the odd long journey from time to time. Considering options such as the Nissan Qashqai, Volvo V40 (though feels a bit small) and BMW 3 Series.
