Should i buy this car?

Someone i know is selling there 2010 3.0 Audi A5 Automatic with 75000 miles and are looking for £3K. Reasons its relatively cheap is due to the fact its a Cat D (rear damage) and also recently, it has developed an issue with the gearbox where if it shifts from gear 2 to 1, the car does like a jolt action.

Any ideas what this could be and if its worth taking on? An oil and filter change could help it out if i was lucky but apparently he had a quote of around £2K to fix it...

I'm sure its not an RS5 gearbox but £10k to fix a problem with that!

I don't understand how its sustainable to run these cars where gearbox's have such little life expectancy. I wouldn't go near one.
