Hi
Heading back to the UK from Canada after 14 Years so looking for a cruiser to head down to spain in good mpg probably diesel.
Must be comfortable good seats only two of us on this trip but may need room for 4 for occasional trips
Budget anything from 1 to 20k something though that won't depreciate to badly as will only keep for a year or two or be unreliable maybe even 4 seater convertible only have a week to find something when we fly to UK mid september.
Not really looking for sport cars at this time as have had several Corvettes last one being 600 bhp comfort more important.

Have considered think all were diesels
Volvo c70 metal roof convertible
Volvo s60 or s80
Volvo V60/70
Mercedes e class convertible
Mercedes s class sedan
Bmw 5/7 sedan

I'd say go for a Mercedes E350cdi Coupe with the Panoramic Roof which gives you all the feel of a convertible once the windows & roof are open plus you have more boot space compared to the convertible.

Prices range from 7-20+k but I'd say 12k is the sweet spot for mileage/age/spec/depreciation:

Had the convertible for 3 months from an AMC a few years back - its huge - no issue for 4 (good size) blokes

Yes rear legroom is an issue with me as I'm 6'7 so it's a bit cramped behind me but if the front occupants are 6'0 or less then it's no issue at all.
