Hi All,

Our A4 is due to go back end of September. Before i book the collection going to detail car etc. The car is pristine both inside and out apart from one little niggle (pic attatched)

Shall i get it repaired or will this pass the alloy threshold.

Please advise.

Thanks

Sal

When my seat went back the woman from BCA rocked up, walked around it once (it was in a very tight space so who knows how she saw anything), rubbed a bit of dirt off with her fingers here and there and told me all fine. It had several marks on the interior, s smart repair of dubious quality on the front lip and a couple of scuffs on the alloys. I was charged £20 to flat off a small mark which I thought was fair. Plus I gave it back with 7miles of fuel in.

She said some of the stuff she gets handed back is awful. One 2 yo car had 60k miles on (5k/pa limit) and the head gasket was gone! Plus marks on all the panels including the roof.

So as long as it’s clean and and hasn’t been abused that should be fine. Be nice to them too I’m sure if you are a dick they will find something extra?

Obviously this is my findings and I’m sure individual inspectors vary...

Thanks smile ... Apart from that scuff car is well looked after. I might just smooth it out with fine paper and laq it. Did it on my C Class previously which had polished alloys. Nothing was said on inspection/collection.

Scuffs up to 50mm on the total circumference of the wheel rim and of alloy wheels are acceptable

Save your time and money, it’s easier to pay their charges should they invoice you for it.

I agree. There is no need to do anything other than wash it a few days before and have it hovered out.

Their charges are extremely reasonable when compared to the cost (let alone the time involved) with having scuffs and small blemished removed. In all likelihood none of the work actually gets done, before it goes to auction anyway.

As one previous member has also alluded, they aren't looking for people like you. They are instead looking for people who are hugely over mileage, haven't kept up the maintenance schedule and have neglected the vehicles from day one.

None of the work gets done; they're given a basic wash at auction and put under the hammer.

Even cars with warrantable faults are sold as is.

This. That damage the OP shows in nothing. And it's never worth the time and bother to do them yourself. In December I handed back an E class coupe with 4 absolutely mullered AMG alloys - they were so easy to scrape that I simply gave up caring. I got billed for 3 wheels. £55 a wheel.

I used to work for a big lease company and there was a "rogues gallery" of photos of the state of some of the cars being returned - I wish I'd copied them. My favourite was some big 4x4: the oily engine was on the back seat rofl Now that's handover damage!

Haha thanks guys. I give car a wash every 2-3 weeks (two bucket method only). Im going to leave the scuff alone as advised by you all.
Give car a wash and tidy up the interior with autofinesse goodies few days before the collection day. And then take it from there. smile

If it's unmarked just wash it, hoover it out and that's more than enough. Seriously - you need to see how company fleet stuff is returned.

^^^ that. The last time I returned a lease car I put it through the local £10 "valet" place a couple of days before it went back.

The guys who collected it couldn't believe the condition of it, they said they're lucky if it's not completely filthy top to bottom.

Inspection done today.

All ok apart from 102 miles above agreed mileage.

Coming to collect later today after BCA forgot to assign a driver even though it was booked on 02 Sep 19.

I would be surprised if they bothered to bill you for that, what’s it going to cost? 8-10 quid in fees? Would cost them more to process it.

I don't get this.

How is an AMG wheel - or any wheel - easier to scrape than any other? The kerb doesn't jump out at you irrespective of wheel.

Did it get picked up? Nobody showed to collect mine. Rang them, to be told there was a problem with the driver. Funny the same thing happened 2 years ago after waiting in all day. How can they get the inspection sorted but always cock up the collection?!

The face of the alloy stuck out further than the rubber of the tyre.

I'm royally pissed with BCA Logistics. My Mercedes lease car was booked for inspection and collection on Thursday 26/09, they confirmed this on 29/08. Inspector turned up as agreed, no damage or charges. Got a call from them about 1730 - not been able to arrange a driver yet, would in be around later? I was at home so no problem, they'd get someone before 9pm.

Nobody showed. Called them Friday morning, guy said he'd tried to ring me - no evidence he had. He'll try and get someone today. Rings me back - can't get anyone today, but I have got a driver Saturday morning if you're available. I said OK, but it absolutely has to be gone on Saturday because I'll be away after that. Nobody showed up again.

I've a good mind to stick it out on the road with the keys on the seat given the chances I've given them. I'm not waiting in for them next week, but the car is in the way now and I want it gone.

It got picked up by the same inspector who came early in day to inspect the car.

He came back around 8pm.

He told me he was doing this as a favour to supervisor who was meant to arrange the collection lol.

I was not the only one . He mentioned he got two more Audis to inspect and pick. So he was going to inspect all the cars and then come to collect them. Apparently they were going to be parked on his drive away and BCA driver will collect them next day lol.

I got my inspection and collection report.

Absolute disgrace.

Mine was running out of MOT in 48 hours so they had no choice but to collect it.

I also informed Audi Finance about the whole thing and they were really helpful and advised me that they will waive the terms of my contract and waive all the per day charges and pay MOT fee (if I had to get it done).
