Buying a used Kia Rio 2 2011 1.5 diesel. Advice?
Discussion
Hi!
New here. Buying a second to do the local commute (6 miles a day). Currently bhave a Peugeot 307 2li diesel 53 plate.
We've seen this Kia Ria 2 2011 plate 1.5li diesel. One owner from new. 88000miles manual. Price £1650 but thinking £1500.
It's not as quiet and refined driving as our old Peugeot but is just for go carting.
Can any in know drop us your opinion on whether the rust underneath looks worrying or not, if you'd be so kind?
It's tidy up top apart from the odd stain on the rear seats. MOT'd till march 2020 and full service history.

Kias tend to rust underneath and at the tops of the doors.
The key places to check are the suspension mounting points. A scan of the MOT history should flag up any advisories.
I'm not sure that any kind of diesel is really going to make you feel like you're better off with a 6 mile commute.

I had an 06 plate crdi.
Used it for short journeys and the occasional long trip. Overall fantastic engine and it moves quite well.
No dpf on the 06 - not sure about an 11 plate.
Interior is cheap and rattled.
Scrapped it in February due to subframe corrosion.
In fairness I ignored the previous mot which noted corrosion. That year I had to replace a corroded fuel tank (£500) and the following year the subframe rust got so bad it failed the mot. They wanted £800 to replace one end.
Spares seem hard to come by and are not cheap when buying new.
Aside from that it ATE front tyres - but could have been down to bad ball joints which I only replaced shortly before it’s death. Check for uneven tyre wear.
On top of all that the slave cylinder also failed on mine.
I would consider a spotless one - but if you decide to go ahead with this one - get the rust sorted ASAP.
