Leasing advice please: T-Roc / 3008
Discussion
Hi: first post so please be gentle..and I hope I’m posting this in the right place.
My wife is due to change her Mini in December. She has been on a 4 year PCP deal direct with the dealers. Although the car has been great there is no residual value in the deal and in retrospect I can’t honestly see what the value of PCP was/is. She was considering a Countryman but Mini didn’t seem to be falling over themselves to do a decent deal so she now has a blank sheet and I am suggesting a lease.
At the moment the leading contender is a T-Roc, with a Peugeot 3008 now starting to feature in her thinking too. I saw the incredible deal on the Vauxhall Grandland a few pages back but I don’t think I could live with one in all honesty. No offence if you have one.
My question is really about shopping tactics to secure a car come December when the Mini goes back. I’m assuming that the best approach is to not be too precious about colour and extras and go after a car that’s already on a forecourt somewhere? Or is it just as easy/not much more to spec the exact vehicle? She has speculatively registered with car wow and is currently drowning in quotes. Any other sites to sign up to?
The timing is quite important (although we have various other cars she could drive temporarily) so any clues on how long the paperwork/credit checks/delivery usually take (delivery assuming the car is built and in UK) would also be helpful.
She currently pays about £285 pm on the Mini (I was a bad influence on the options..) and she now wants to pay less. She could afford to put down a deposit of 6 months, or 9 months at a push and would like to pay more like £220-£250 tops.
Finally...the Mini has a couple of car park dings and two of the wheels are lightly kerbed. Will I be screwed when it goes back/ should I get them sorted? Not sure if there is a difference in approach to damage with PCP vs Lease.
Thank you!

December.... Don't rule out the PCP just yet then, I picked my Jeep up a few years ago the day before Christmas Eve and got a cracking deal.
Wondered into the showroom the week earlier, salesman was straight over, admiting I was the first person he had seen all day and could test drive a few different cars if I fancied, got me a coffee.
We discussed deals and he came down £60 a month, following a friend's advice I walked away dispite being happy with the deal, 1 hours later I got a call offering to drop deposit from £500 to zero and another £10 off the payment if I completed in the next week
When I arrived he told me again that I was getting a deal I wouldn't get elsewhere.
I checked car wow, he was right

The 3008's sister car, the C5 Aircross is lots cheaper than the Peugeot equivalent to lease at the moment https://leasing.com/car-leasing/citroen/c5-aircros...

The Aircross is definitely a decent alternative to the 3008. I assumed they would depreciate more than the 3008 though, making the lease more expensive?
I still don’t understand, from my experience off the Mini at least, what the supposed benefit of PCP is?
PCP works out better if the car holds is value well, neither of those listed will.I still don’t understand, from my experience off the Mini at least, what the supposed benefit of PCP is?
My abarth did and I broke even after 18m so would have been "in credit" at end of term
My Jeep (as my learned friend above points out) was a sack of c7ap so I owed £2k
Lease defo safer

You might think so, but manufacturers often run lease promotions on certain models, making them cheaper. I’ve linked to the best C5 deal for 2 years/8000 miles a year on 3 months up front, and the best 3008 deal, both for mid range models with the same engine (as far as I can see) on equivalent terms:C5 https://leasing.com/main-dealers/bristol-street-mo...
3008 https://leasing.com/main-dealers/stoneacre-peugeot...
As you can see, the Peugeot is almost 25% more

Fair one, 2% of a low volume is still low.
I had 3 year finance on the abarth so was a case of pay a pentalty fee or move the finance.
I guess that's why a lease appeals to me as well as the OP, it's fixed, PCP has variables which may or may not work on the users favour
Sorry, what penalty?I had 3 year finance on the abarth so was a case of pay a pentalty fee or move the finance.

Pcp is actually more flexible than pch. You can settle a pcp at anytime. A pch your tied to
Did you not like the abarth?
They look fun
