Whats a good comfy track day car that turns into an animal once there for 30k or less,

Needs air con, comfy seats, selectable suspension, manual ok but prefer 8sp zf or similar, 3-500hp depending on weight, no more than 1600kg really

Happy to stretch a little so a nissan GTR is possible, i know its heavier but it hides it well,

Duno, maybe go old school but anything older thats good on track will be too stiff to drive to the track for me i think otherwise id look at an e36/46 m3 probably

Ive only just started toying with the idea so not much thought given which is good in that im not set on anything in particular

Any Suggestions?

If you can stretch a couple of grand there are some Evora S out there for £32kish.

Oh yea I forgot about those in which case you can drive the Megane's to the track & you'll have fun with them go for a Trophy/Cup S with the Ohlins dampers they're a more compliant set up, it does mean a manual box but it's better for it.

Weight? Doubt it’d be any more focused or fun than my Granturismo tbh and I’ve not considered taking that round, maybe wrongly... just think (from past experiences) something lighter wouldn’t see brakes suffering as much, e39 m5 and clk55 just faded after 3 laps

Had a chimaera that was good on track, not too uncomfortable either but no AC and they’re a bit long in tooth now

Too much hassle, I just want to drive there have fun and cruise back in comfort

The Granturismo does the Jekyll and Hyde bit very well for the road, just the right balance, I want something in addition that tips the balance more toward track, that’s all..

Lotus just don’t do it for me I’m afraid, old esprit did but newer stuff I just don’t like

Maybe a 4.2 R8? On mag ride?

M2 any good on track? This has soft suspenders option doesn’t it?

To be fair, I haven’t, no, it was based more on looks and assuming it was some highly strung small capacity il4 or v6 at best, chapmans ethos and engineering impresses but doesn’t excite enough to have ever looked for tbh, I think the esprit only does because (shallowly) of pretty woman and basic instinct hehe

I will take a look though as love the idea of my preconceptions being changed

Noble always appealed though which is similar

Eta: bloody hell, 3.5 v6, 400hp and doesnt look bad, very noble esque, what do they ride like? Seats comfy? I’ll pop over to the lotus forum and dig around..

You'll need a chunk more cash for a GT400 I think. Ride is excellent and the seats are some of the comfiest I've sat in - I think you could have one as a daily drive and not regret it. The steering is wonderful, and they make an excellent noise. I very nearly bought one.

Really liking their looks, strange ive never given them a look, duno why

I'd say Evora, all day long. I guess it depends on what you mean by comfort to be honest. Do you have back problems etc? For example I ran a VX220 as a weekend toy/track car for 10.5 years (only tracking it for the last 4 years of ownership). I could drive to a track, spend all day going as fast as possible and drive all the way home with no back problems or aches at the end of the day.

For your budget, it would be an Evora without a doubt, any Evora, doens't have to be an S, it will still be quick and fun on track.

I used to always want a Noble, without a doubt one of the best cars I've driven, with the handling and the noise of the dump valves behind your ears, but they're now getting very expensive for a decent one, so an Evora has over taken that as my desirable car for a £30k budget.

They're not Elise-light, but they are a useful bit less than some of the obvious alternatives.

I never really liked them in photos, but in person they seem much sleeker. Absolutely lovely to drive in every regard (though I'm not a track day person so can't comment on that front).

I was going to suggest a TTRS but wasn't sure they could be had in budget. Cracking car - worth a go for sure.
