Social Scorn in my XKR?

With the demise of ICE cars over the next 15yrs or so , would it be a good time to buy a XKR 5.0L? (trading in my Cayman S)
I must admit i'm having serious doubts, knowing what the public can be like on these sort of things after reading tabloid press , will petrol be available in 15yrs? Will it be taxed out of economic existence.
I watch "Harry's Garage" on Youtube and think.."what'll happen to all the amazing old classic cars when they can't ever be driven again" ..I mean 20yrs isn't that long...would you buy a £200k 964 RS now? or even a £25k XKR?
Maybe i'm panicking but one thing is for sure, petrol will become very expensive and socially unacceptable to buy.
Trouble is, I really want an XKR before that happens.

t box as they will have the same fate after years of dreary driving People complained about Chelsea tractors back in the late nineties and now nearly everyone owns an SUV that's larger than the 4x4's of twenty years ago.
The general public still appreciate nice cars yet you do get some EV eco nutters (usually in Leafs rather than Teslas) that try and gloat over their perceived environmentalism.
Have one acquaintance that chastised me over my two VED c02 level cars yet he has four children which is far worse for the environment and is always flying for business.

The 'ban' on ICE engines, is only as the primary method of propulsion. Hybrids will still be around and they will still require petrol. Unless I'm missing something, the 'ban' isn't effective until 2040 anyway (unless it has changed and I have missed that bit). Either way - 20 years until all NEW VEHICLES SOLD must be hybrid. Petrol stations will still be out there - perhaps less of them, but they'll still be there.

It seems to me, given that you have some concerns about the future social and financial costs of doing 15-20mpg everywhere, and given that there's no shortage of ways to enjoy motoring that needn't come with any of those issues, why not just pick another route?
There are countless threads started by people who've suddenly realised that large engines and massive performance are pointless and frustrating, and countless other PH members agreeing with them on every single one.
So if it were me, I'd find an alternative.

I bought a 10 year old Hybrid a few years ago, everyone thinks it a green car and will save the environment. Little do they know its an big suv with a 3.3 litre V6 petrol engine. and achieves 33 mpg. Don't worry people have no idea anyway. If you told them it was 2.0 diesel they would probably believe you Just buy one and enjoy it.
I really wouldn't worry about petrol sports/enthusiast cars going away.
What I suspect will happen is that that market and government forces will put most people in an EV (no bad thing). Thus the emissions impact from fossil cars should go way way down and occasional use by a select group of PHers will hopefully go on without too many restrictions.
