Due to my personal circumstances absolutely going to s
t i need to get rid of my car for a significantly cheaper one.
Criteria is,
Needs to be able to seat 4 occasionally but my parents are 70 so can’t be too difficult ingress/egress.
Needs to be able to fit golf clubs and trolley in, i am open to these going inside the car though and would mainly be with just me in the car.
Less than £1k deposit and monthly payments as low as possible but definitely starting with a 1. Would be around 9000 miles per year.
Would prefer as new as possible or even new as I won’t have a contingency fund for a while to pay for repairs.
Needs to be cheap to run.
Would like to be able to get my bike inside the car, this is a like not a need.
Would like it to be at least interesting.
Not fussed about status or performance as there are more important things right now.
Cant be a diesel as in the main my driving is to work which is 5 mile away but i do need a car once there.
Not closed off to hybrid as long as it makes sense financially.
Cant do electric only as very occasionally will need to do 200 mile round trip to my sisters.
This will be my only car.

Or even the Logan MCV - easiest of the lot to bung a bike in.I was looking at this company a while back but i dont do enough miles to make up the money by using electric over petrol. Plus it will be the only car and do occasionally do a trip to Bristol which the Zoe wouldn’t manage.

Wouldn’t say no to an insight or prius just a bit concerned about potential maintenance costs.
Whilst i do see that it is a balancing act and could get potentially a better car for less money it would be pretty much a known figure with a new car vs potential unexpected bills but with less outlay for an older car.

3rd Gen CRV 2.0 petrol would be ideal if looking at older used. Very reliable, perfect seat height for sliding into, big boot which will take an adult bike with rear seats down and you can get them for less than £3k. If going new and leasing, these petrol cars can all be had for about £1k down, £198 per month, 8k mileage per year for 48 months
Honda HRV
VW T-Cross
Skoda Karoq
A run out Suzuki Baleno would be cheap enough and great fun with the 1.0 Boosterjet even if it doesn't look much, also the current shape Clio is very good value (£169 down £169 a month I think) due to a new model being imminent - we have one (partners car) and my nan is on two sticks and she can get in and out no problem much easier than my Audi A4.
Other options to check out;
Fiesta is a good value all rounder if a bit dull
New VW Polo (dull yes, but excellent quality. My mam has one and it's like a Mk4 Golf in terms of size)
Suzuki Ignis or Vitara (edit- someone else beat me to it with the Vitara)
Nissan Micra or Juke are both quite cheap at the minute
Kia Picanto GT Line
Ultimately though the Dacias take some beating in terms of value but the above have their own positives.
Other options to check out;
