My Citroen car is under two years old and has had a ECU replaced and has now developed electrical faults. It has been in the dealers garage for 5 weeks under repair..... If the car cannot be repaired for some time, can I ask for another car of the same specs and age as a replacement ?

You could ask for a courtesy car, once the cars repaired then I'd ask to swap it for another.

Not much you can do realistically, if you have a suitable courtesy car then just use that until it’s fixed.
A call to Citroen customer services to let them know about your frustration will help but don’t scream, shout or whine as it’ll get you nothing.
Same goes for talking to the dealer trying to repair it, remember they’re just trying to fix it and aren’t responsible for it breaking down.

Thank you Bake and Shake.... I dont really intend to blow a fuse. I in fact agree with you 100 % and I am just frustrated. In fact Customer Care have been very helpful, but the garage do seem to be dragging their feet and never return my calls when I ask for an update .. thus the frustration... thank you anyway

It's not really in the garages interest to keep your car and drag their feet, they are probably waiting for direction from Citroen on what to replace and authorisation of costs.
They won't work on it without Citroen themselves giving the go ahead on work but there's no reason for them to keep your car taking up space.

I was told the job would take 15/16 hrs or 2/3 days....It has been at the garage for nearly five weeks. Citrroen have authorized work, so what else could hold up a job for that long ?

Parts availability, repairs ineffective?

I understand why you are frustrated, especially if the garage is not forthcoming with information. If they don't return your calls then simply pop into the dealership and speak to the service manager face to face for an update and an estimated timeframe. I'm pretty sure the garage will want the issue fixed as quickly as possible, especially if you are running about in one of their courtesy cars.

It's better for you that they get to the bottom of the issue and fix it, even if it takes a bit longer, than giving you your car back and the issue happens again and you need to make more visits for the same issue.

I know it's not much consolation but one positve is that you are adding miles to their courtesy car and not your own car.

If you don't get a resultion within a "reasonable" timeframe you could discussnwith the dealer and or customer services about them either buying the car off you or do you an attractive deal on a replacement car.
