Upgrading 2011 Fiesta Titanium 1.4 - approx £7k to spend

Hi,

I am looking to upgrade my wife's car. She has had it for 5 years - and it has been great. Looking for something slightly newer (hopefully) - and ideally just as economical and reliable. I worry about second hand BMW/Mercs and the cost of repair etc- especially as they are likely to be older for the price.

I had considered leasing - but with two children I think the constant stress of mess/damage would be a pain - so leaning towards getting something second hand. It has to be an automatic and 5 door - but other than that I am fairly flexible.

no preference really. She doesn't do more than around 5k miles a year if that helps!

Why not just jump to a newer version of what she's got?

I would have thought something from the next class up from a Fiesta, like a Honda Civic, Toyota Auris or Hyundai i30/Kia C'eed would suit your needs.

123bhp out of a 1.6 seems a bit light, we are considering something similar for my wife’s next car...
