Astra vxr replacement

So some lady kindly ploughed into the side of my GF’s Astra today pulling out of a junction without looking. Most probably looking at a write off as all passenger side is damaged, hopefully get in the region of 4/5k on insurance and will possible add a couple £k as well for the replacement, but what to replace with?

It’s a 2008 Astra vxr which she’s had for 5 years and loves. Thinking of alternatives for around say £7k max, small(ish), quick(ish), fun, nippy, reliable something to enjoy going for a country road hoon and odd track day maybe. My first thought was EP3 type r as I had one back in the day and loved it, Clio? Don’t know much about them tbh but get good reviews, any others people would suggest?

Or just buy and another vxr but variety is the spice of life and all that...
