Hi all,

I will be handing back my PCP 2018 corsa back in 9 short months (thank god, bored senseless of it) and have found the Brera to be a suitable replacement. While I would love a 147 GTA, only being 20 means insurance makes the GTA to expensive. I have been getting quotes for about £1100 for the Brera JTS 2.2 which is dirt cheap compared to other cars with similar performance numbers (coupe, 8sec 0-60). To be honest it all seems to goof to be true, its affordable, cheap insurance, fun, amazing to look at and not too thirsty.

Is this gen of Alfa prone to the repair bills Alfas are known for, or is this a proper steal?

Thanks,

Aaran

I'll get in quick with my time with a 159 2.2 which is the same thing more of less.

I bought it for £3k as a stop gap car. I ended up with it for 18 months. Beyond a service and consumables it's cost me nothing. I put 21k miles on it in that time and it's been a great car. It is thirsty though...I think I was doing well to get over 35mpg on a tank and most of the 21k miles I racked up were cruise locked on at 70mph.

Have a look on an owners forum for what to look for/buying guides. Mine was a faultless but I may have struck lucky.

The only thing I will say about the engine itself is that it has a very flat spot mid range and then picks up. It take a day or so to get it right when pulling away. From the reading I did it seems a quirk of the engine or "it gives the car character" hehe

Had the Spider version for a few years until recently.

Needed a couple of things sorting while I had it but no more than any other car (window regulators, brake switch). Generally it was reliable and seemed pretty well built to me.
Only reason I sold it was to part ex against a different car.
