Used PHEV

Just wondering about how sensible of a decision it would be, from a reliability, resale and financial standpoint .
The XC90 T8 and the Q7 e-tron both look like very appealing vehicles.

Over a year or two - not good.

Over 5-10 years, potentially very good, IMO.

Not much experience of the Audi but the XC90 T8 is a great car.

As for a private long term purchase, I would consider the non PHEV version as they are much better value in comparison. I get the whole local trips on electricity but with such limited EV range these cars are only popular for company car drivers with the low CO2.

We have already seen a couple eye watering bills outside of warranty on PHEV models bit to be fair the manufacturers did contribute towards them.

Can you expand, why you think it is a wise thing only over such a long term?

Looking into buying a 3 year old PHEV and keep it for a few years.
How reliable is the electrical system (batteries, alternator/generator)?

I think diesel hybrids make the most sense, electric power for urban environment, diesel efficiency for the long extraurban trips.

I agree diesel hybrids are the best option especially on SUV's.

I believe the only Diesel PHEV is the Q7 which was a sales failure, from memory they had problems from the start so Audi stopped selling them in the UK. This will reflect in values and parts prices.

I do believe Mercedes are introducing the 300de drivetrain to the ML/GL ranges.
