Just wondered if I'm missing anything here, I have a car for sale on eBay as a classified ad with best offer. Guy from France made contact asking if he can make an offer on it.
Payment would be PayPal £100 deposit and the rest by bank transfer.
He will have car picked up by transport company. All seems quite straight to me but just wondered if anyone had any holes they could pick in it?

Could be bogus could be straight up. You will be much more aware than the rest of us which category your proposed buyer likely falls into. Just ensure the bank transfer is completed before you let go of the car.

I am not current on scams but cheque fraud / fake bank transfer confirmations etc are rife. Just confirm with your bank that the cash is irrevocably yours before proceeding.

I sold some expensive car parts to a French purchaser, he paid via bank transfer and there were no issues,
I've also sold a car (£1500 mondeo) to a uk buyer who bought it sight unseen via bank transfer and sent a car carrier for it again no issues
I think as long as you verify the transaction with your bank before releasing the car it should be fine

Thanks for that guys, he seems more keen on paying the whole transaction via PayPal but I've said bank transfer only.

I've seen a lot of warnings about cracked paypal accounts being used for fraud. Personally, I wouldn't accept it.

Tough one. My brother and I sold our Impreza's around the same time and his went to Germany, and mine to Iceland! But... with both sales the buyers actually came over to the UK to pick them up. Mine was a slightly rare car, but my brother's wasn't. Is yours anything special? If so the buyer should be willing to come over if he wants it that desperately!

No way. Cash or ps off always. Also, always deal in person.

It's a Clio 172 Cup so fairly unusual I suppose.

A 1 way plane ticket is about £150. Surely that should tell you everything about this scam.

French car wanted by a French national.
Pound vs euro makes it cheap for him.

As long as funds are cleared, I would think there is no concern.

The transport thing is what would worry me , having sold stuff to Denmark and the Netherlands dealing with foreign buyers doesnt bother me but them buying sight unseen does
