Do I bother putting money into a 'Shed' or not?

I got a 2002 petrol auto Honda CRV in July. I arguably overpaid for it at £2k, but it came with 6 months warranty which I have used a good few times to sort out some initial niggles. I don't want to take the p*ss with the warranty, so I have also done a few bits myself to help learn more about the car etc...

My current dilemma is, I am pretty sure it needs new engine mounts as there is a shunt when you take your foot off the accelerator, bit of a jerk movement, only slight. Also some harshness on some gear changes at the right RPM.

Do I.... pay for my trusted garage to diagnose this and then fix it, or... do I attempt to replace them myself, I have limited equipment but I could probably work it out given enough time.

Or at this price range, should I just ignore it and drive it as is? It isn't on crazy mileage at 94k, so I am undecided.... if it does me 2 years without any big bills i'd be thrilled. It is shockingly bad on fuel, so I expect i'll be fed up with that by the end of 2 years at most.

Any ideas?

It sounds like you aren't keen to keep it for very long anyway due to the poor economy, personally I'd run it into the ground and put any money you were planning to spend on it towards the next purchase.

That is sort of how I am thinking at the moment. I like the car mostly, but we are spending about £80 a week on fuel and we aren't high mileage drivers really!

After buying the car, I realised that I would've been better off spending a bit more anyway, so perhaps I will just drive it until it gives up.
