Distance buying - FOMO / trust / have you / would you?

I've been hunting for a car for a few months now. Specific colour, trim, engine etc. We're talking an ±7 grand car here, not tens of thousands. One finally popped up on AT a few days ago.
However I'm currently several thousand miles away for the next 3-4 weeks and suffering from severe FOMO (fear of missing out). I also live about 8 hours drive away from the car in question so not an easy opportunity to go view / test drive when I do get home. I've already confirmed service history and other essentials.
The price including warranty and delivery is still less than any equivalent up here in the barren north east of Scotland as well as lower miles, better condition and perfect spec.
Seller has 100% excellent feedback on AT and has responded quickly to questions i've asked via email.
Internal dilemma... do I / don't I.

If buying off a trader, use the EU Distance Selling Regs. On a non face to face transactions consumers have 14 days cooling off for full refund. No need for there to be any faults etc, simple 14 days to return for full refund.
Have bought new VW from Poland, AMG demo from Wales and a used VW in UK, all without seeing car or visiting the dealer. Remind them of your rights, and any problems....full cash back please. Never had a problem.

So if you buy the car and decide to use the "simple 14 days to return for full refund" clause, how exactly do you intend to enforce this? Lets assume you don't like the car and ask for a full refund, what are you going to do if the helpful dealer in Luton initially fobs you off, then ignores your calls and emails and then tells you to go forth and multiply?Have bought new VW from Poland, AMG demo from Wales and a used VW in UK, all without seeing car or visiting the dealer. It's a seven grand car, are you then going to speak to a solicitor who charges £200 an hour and wants £1k on account before they will even look at the case?
Cloud cuckoo land, you have zero chance of getting a refund in this situation. Having read too many horror stories of people buying "mint" cars unseen and finding out they are a shonky, rusty Subaru when they turn up I would advise against it.
There are always more cars out there, do not buy anything you have not seen with your own eyes first.

When I lived in the US I needed to get two cars sorted in time for my return to Blighty last October. I found cars for the wife and I on autotrader with traders and arranged to have them inspected by the AA, AA found a couple of issues on each which the sellers resolved.
Both cars delivered to my house in late August (My Bro-in-Law signed for them and put them on the drive).
They were both fine. I wouldn't do it for a private sale though.
