Anyone got two of the same car?

We just sorted a new car for my other half. Very good deal, on a well spec’d Suzuki Swift brand new for £169 per month with no customer deposit, reasonable balloon at the end.
I’ve never really fancied a small engined car before, and fully expected this one with its 1.2 to be horrendous, and expected the car to be tinny and noisy like my old Sport model.
Actually, I love it. I thoroughly enjoyed driving it over the weekend just gone, it’s very civilised on the motorway unlike the older modes, excellent fuel economy so far, nice to have apple car play etc.
I don’t really need one, but my ageing almost shed needs a little work, cambelt etc and if anything gives up on it like the DPF it would probably be 6 months worth of payments on a new little swift. Of course, it won’t be cheaper in the long run (probably) but it’s certainly more reliable and a safe option.
I’d like to have a bit more imagination instead of having his and hers cars on the drive, so has anyone seen any deals for a similarly decent little new car at a similar price they could recommend?

My Mrs has just got a Swift too on a similar deal, ‘VAT free’ was the offer with good dealer contribution.
Shedding is always usually cheaper, but for me personally, a day off work due to a broken down car costs me around £200. One day lost due to a knackered car costs me more than that payment. While I like to keep outgoings to a minimum where I can, a new car makes a lot of sense when you think about it like this.
I’d say get it, cracking little car, drives really well, nippy, will be tirelessly reliable...

I don't see a problem with having two or more of the same car (or brand) within the family, if it's a good car or brand then it makes sense. We've had this situation a few times:
Parents: Honda Accord 1.8
Brother: Honda Accord 2.3 Type V
Me: Honda Accord 2.4
then
Parents: Honda Civic 1.6
Brother: Honda Civic 2.2d
then
Dad: Honda CRV 2.2d (was mine originally)
Me: Honda CRV 2.0 (auto: very irritating to drive due to zero torque)
Brother: Honda Civic 1.8 then Honda Accord 2.2d (great car but horrific DPF issues)
In-laws: Honda Jazz
Now:
Dad: Honda CRV 2.2d
Brother: Honda Accord 2.2d

Wife: Suzuki Swift SZ3 1.2
I love driving my wife's Suzuki Swift, very pokey for such a small engine and go-kart handling. Quite fancied the 1.6 Sport for a few extra giggles but we need a big family car and the Jag is a great car (although I'd prefer petrol), so when it comes to replacing my wife's it will probably be with a 1.6 Sport. Alas, judging by how reliable it has been I think it will be a long, long time before this is necessary.

What model was you old swift sport? Wouldn't you rather a sport over a 1.2?
My preference would be a 2016 Swift sport - £7500.
A lot of the depreciation has gone, still has a little warranty left. Great car.

My old sport was horrendously noisy. I’m aware the 2016 you mention has the addition of a 6th gear... I haven’t actually driven one so unsure what the NVH at motorway speeds is.
I do quite high annual mileage really so whatever I get needs to be decent on long journeys. This usually discounts little cars like the swift but like I said I’m shocked at just how good my other half’s new one is.

I like the Swift for cutting about locally and short motorway runs but I think anything over 20 miles would get a little tiresome unless it's the sport version. Perhaps even then.Cabin insulation isn't great and it's a little cramped for me.
My boss exasperates me everytime I think about it.
He has a new (19 plate now) 7 seat X5 30d, just to commute to work as he is 186ish tall and "needs" a big car.
His wife has a 19 plate 5 seat X5 30d, for the family (1 teenage child). they both pay over £700 each a month for this privilege.
Just too much money and too little sense (or penis issues).
