The MOT is only a very basic check of road-worthiness and is no safeguard against shoddy repairs.
At 1/3 the price of a straight one it could be worth it or it could be a bodged deathtrap....get it properly inspected and remember that if you buy it, when you come to sell it'll be a lot harder and you'll have to sell at a similar discount to a straight car

Have you thought about insurance yet too? a lot of insurers steer clear of any "Cat" car so worth checking before you consider further

CAT S still needs to be inspected before allowing it back on the road. If this hasn't been repaired correctly then it would not be allowed back on the road.
As for insuring the car most will insure but they won't pay the full asking price if it were to be wrote off again. Speak with the insurance company about this as this isn't always the case and they pay what you bought it for but some will look at the asking price of new then see it's already a CAT S and deduct again for been wrote off again.

Agree with what people are saying. If the current owner doesn't know what were wrong then skip it.
I know a person who repairs Cat S & N cars and sells them on. He knows what the issue is with each one and takes photos as proof. If the seller hasn't got this then walk away and find another car.
