Bigger version of a Micra
Discussion
Please can I have some of your wisdom? I've been running a 2000 K11 Micra for ten years and it's never let me down, and only costs me about £400 a year for Tax, insurance, service and MOT. I'd keep it if I could but sadly it's no longer practical for the growing family.
What car do you recommend to replace it that's basically a Micra but bigger (preferably 5 door)? I need something cheap to run, that's also going to be as reliable. I don't need central locking or anything like that, just a basic car with less to go wrong.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Maybe have a look at the MG3, they offer a basic model and it's actually quite nice inside. Comes with a 7 year warranty as well, so hassle free motoring.

PCP deal is £169 deposit with 47 monthly payments of £169 @ 0% interest. Pretty cheap motoring really.
My wife replaced her K11 Micra with 2004 Almera for the same reason. It was also reliable and cheap to run but considerably roomier. If that is a bit old for you then her present choice of a Toyota Auris would fit the bill. Neither car is the slightest bit interesting to drive but if that is not your priority then you need look no further.

Nissan Note.
This. The wife has one (a 2009 Accenta Auto) and it is a brilliant family car with the folding rear seat. Depends how much space you need in the boot for buggies etc though. It will fit a normal buggy and have plenty of room for a rear facing car seat in the back and room for the front passenger.
We would have used it as our main family car but I wanted something to take bikes etc as well ie a full estate so it is now just used for the school run etc.
