First generation A5/S5 buyers advice

Hi

Looking to replace my e93 cabriolet with something a bit more lairy. Have always liked the V8 S5 coupe, budget is around 7k so would be a higher mileage one (maybe too optimistic with that budget) Would I be better with the 3.0 A5 tdi? Or another variant. It's only going to be a weekend car so main criteria is to put a smile on my face!

Would appreciate any help on what to be looking out for and perhaps what to expect maintenance costs with the v8 (not had a v8 before).
