Yet another winter daily thread (£10k, AWD)

So here's another winter car thread but please hear me out. As winter is almost here, it is pretty obvious that the C63 is going to be completely unusable, or pretty lethal at the least! So I am considering selling the C63 and getting a winter hack considerations being..

1) Creature Comforts: Heated Seats, Effective heating (ideally climate control), etc. - just generally a nice place to be in
2) AWD: I live in a semi-rural location so don't need a Defender but AWD is not going to harm
3) Not particularly looking for an SUV as it's just the Mrs and me, so we don't need lots of space but I wouldn't exclude them either. Usually I prefer hot hatches or coupes.
4) Daily usage is going to be a 15 mile commute, mainly in rush hour traffic
5) Reliability is key as I can't be spending lots of time and money getting things fixed. I will get the car looked over properly and serviced if required
6) Price Point: £10k

buy a 2-3k Forester / Legacy (Subaru)
FIL is running a 100,000 mile Legacy 3 litre. Electric everything, leather, (owned from new - his ex-company car)
I ran a Impreza for a few years (wagon)

keep the merc for the 99% of winter days that are fine, spend 2k on a panda 4x4 for the nasty 2 days we'll have.

Letting the C63 go is not a problem. The winter car is just my 'man maths' way of convincing myself to move on to better things come spring!
