What cheap, eco but fun commuter
Discussion
I am shortly going to be in the market for a replacement for the A3 I currently lease, and don't really want another lease. Its nice having something new, and reliable, but fed up of the monthly payments and would rather have something 'cooler' and maybe older .
Man maths has confirmed that I need an everyday commuter. 60 miles per day, 5 days per week, no traffic, small country lanes.
Criteria:
5 years old or younger (willing to consider outside of this range)
Less than 40,000 miles
Economical - ideally achieving atlas 50mpg
Can be any size (but smaller would suggest economical)
Any number of seats
Service schedules of atlas 15,000 / yearly
Petrol
Circa £5k
Does such a car exist? Any suggestions?

A few ideas which come close to what you're looking for
Alfa Mito/Giulietta
Citroen DS3 Puretech
Ford Fiesta Zetec S/Titanium
Mini One/Cooper
Peugeot 208 Allure
Renault Clio Dynamique S
Seat Ibiza FR
Probably won't get 50mpg out of them all in petrol guise and I'm not sure about the service intervals but should be fairly close to your brief. Ultimately the DS3 is probably the closest as they are very good value, well kitted out and still look great.

It misses a couple of your wishes but a Honda CR-Z might fit the bill...
Forgot to mention - ideally something respectable (apologies if anyone has oneI mean I suppose I get it, but in reference to one 50mpg £5k car or another?

Forgot to mention - ideally something respectable (apologies if anyone has one)Skoda Fabia VRS seems like a good option at moment (arguably not respectable!)
well I love mine! (CR-Z) Your criteria is fairly unrealistic OP.
I have to say you'll have to adjust your criteria a bit & up your budget slightly to get a car close to your wish list.
