New car from main dealer wants to complete prior to month en
Discussion
Hey team need some help put an order in for new car 3 months ago and agreed price. Delivery was expected to take 7 months. But its here!
Been offered a lousy part exchange price and dealer keen to complete before month end. Looking at separate sale for current vehicle to maximise value.
I'm not desperate for a November delivery do I have any leverage if I delay until December? Whilst I sort out my current car?
Anyone had this experience before?
I'm thinking if they want me to pick it up before month end then they need to make it worth my while.
Keen to know your thoughts here.

What does your contract of sale say?
There may be terms around delivery dates being estimated and delivery to be x days from receipt at the dealer. You may also find that the dealer with push the registration through early anyway even if you collect later. Numbers count on registration. Cash count on collection.

well if you wait till Jan and make sure it is regd then it will be a year newer.
Plus if your trade in price is crappy then they will be benefitting if they take it from you in 2019 as it will be a year newer.
Time to look at your contract and negotiate what you want. They seem to forget that you are a customer.I had this with a Volvo (multi franchise) main dealer after I ordered the car they treated me like crap

Thanks Loskie unfortunately they have registered it already. And put the wrong registered keeper details on it. That's in the process of being corrected.
I'm annoyed at the Part exchange price and the fact they want me to come in on a weekday to pick it up which doesn't work for me.
Can I squeeze them for a free three years servicing? Or something similar?

Most car guides give different prices for different years & reg. e.g. a 69 plate from 2019 will be priced differently (very slightly) to a 69 plate from 2020. New reg are indeed from March.20 plate regs don't come out till march I think it is 100% not January

Possibly you are being offloaded with a cancellation from another customer? hence the dealers desire to get it re-registered sharpish.emperorburger said:
