Ford Focus Automatic gear box buying advice
Discussion
I was looking at buying a used focus, automatic. I'm put off by all the talk of issues around the Ford's automatic gear box but I can only see this mentioned relating to 2011-2016 models. So 2 questions:
1 Does that mean if I get a 2017 automatic those issues are resolved?
2 how can I tell what gearbox the car has? It often isn't mentioned in the blurb on the web and there was mention that the issue was resolved in older models by replacing the gearbox with a different type.
Much thanks for any help.
Pete
For information looking for a focus kinda size family car (bit of boot space), auto, 5 door, few years old, upto 30k ish mileage and around the £10k mark.

My understanding is that the petrol Focus models run a torque converter auto which shouldn't give any trouble. The diesel models use the automated manual dual clutch auto boxes which can be troublesome. I think if the dual clutch boxes are serviced regularly they are ok but many owners skip this additional expense.
