Short answer: no.

The ride quality is adequate and the damping well-judged, but it's clearly been set up to be a competitor to 'sporting' estates from BMW and Audi, rather than as a family dog wagon.

Mine replaced a FFRR and a Mercedes S500, and frankly it's a big step down in both ride quality and refinement.

Also, the rear legroom is unexceptional and the height of the boot space is compromised by the body style - my English Pointers are not impressed by the headroom in the back.

Or something bigger. Have Bentayga's dropped to that price yet?

E63 is a bit crashy and too similar to the C63 I think. Bentayga would be a dream but I think I would be super self conscious in it.

That's strange, because I find Mercedes to have very bad ride handling. Jittery, overly firm, crashes on bumps all so much so that the interior was rattling away (almost new car). The XF was smoother than an S-Class as well, which is a poor show as you'd expect a barge to be more comfortable.

Didn't see that one coming! Lol I forgot about the F Pace SVR or something and was going to mention it but the I pace is nice as well. Will be interesting to see how you get on with it over time. Congrats.

I don't think you can say apart from price and range.

That's literally the reason they're not on everyone's drive.

I have one (base model) and love it.

Perfect handling/performance/comfort/space for my needs.

I love its looks but they are quite marmite.

What made you go full EV? Was it a flash decision or have you considered one for a while?

Re the Alpina, could you take the shouty bits off and disguise it as a 520d? Used to be quite straightforward to do that sort of thing. I once heard of an Audi RS2 having been disguised as a boggo 80 for a bullion robbery back in the 90s.

I had never seriously considered one, priced up a tesla a few times but put off by many things. Never owned less than a six cylinder, currently in an eight, and always said I would be the last person in an ICE etc. But, honestly, it goes so well - immediately and handles in a way it has no right to. Finally, the amount of internal space compared to a similar external dimension ICE sold me.

Speaking of six cylinder and electric, I'm sure I read that a new X5 is out or coming which is a six cylinder PHEV. X5 45e or something. I bet its smooth.
