Something fast, reliable, and automatic for under £2000

Hi!

I am in the market for something quick, reliable and preferably automatic (however not a deal breaker) for under 2 grand.

I would prefer something if at all possible with under 100k on the clock.

So far my shortlist comprises of an E46 330, Merc Slk230, Lexus gs300

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Why? I've had some decent Saab sheds in my time.

My £1300 mapped S320 was a brilliant car, as was the £1300 4.4 L322 that replaced it. Never had an issue with either in around 4k hard miles. That being said, I'd avoid a Range Rover like the plague as I'm well aware how lucky I got. For £2k I'd go get either an E320 or a 330d.

thanks, any reason a 330d over a 330i?

thanks, any reason a 330d over a 330i?

You'd be lucky to find a 330i manual for your budget, the auto suits the 330d and pretty much ruins the 330i in my experience. If you get one, join the owners club on Facebook and get in touch with Nick Jupp, he's the go to guy for E46 parts and advice. Get one with as much paperwork as possible and aim to get a 204 instead of a 184.

A 2006 SAAB 9-3 2.8 V6 Aero auto (spend some of the change on a remap to 320bhp/500Nm and the in-gear acceleration is brutal - it left my F30 BMW 330d for dead on the motorway)
