The answer to what fast, comfortable and vaguely practical family barge always used to be a 530d (3 series being a bit small).

With the engine/power train shift over the last 5 years is that still the right choice for a 5 year old car?

2.0 petrol Mazda 6 wagon. Fairly spacious, OK to drive, good value to run and maintain and generally run like clockwork.

Depends on your miles I guess.

Diesel still good for high mileage. But I wouldn’t buy one if I didn’t need that.
