Which £30k 'fast' Estate car?

Potentially looking to change (upgrade...) the family wagon next year.
Budget is 'around' £30k.
Only stipulations are that it has to be a large estate, no more than 2 years old, not stupid mileage (less than 40k) and be around the £30k mark (Max £32k).

So far I've thought about:

Jaguar XF 300
Skoda Superb Sportline Plus
Merc E350D AMG

or top of budget:
Merc E43 AMG

Anything else I'm missing?

Audi, Merc, BMW all have offerings in your budget.

As a secondary option, VW Golf R estate.

Something a bit different, a Porsche Macan? The >2015s are just coming into that price range now, although will be 3/4 years old.

Or a Seat Leon Cupra estate.

Would love the Cupra but the boot isn't big enough - test drove the FR 150 last year and really liked it, which rules out the Golf too I think.

My A4 Avant has a smaller boot than my old Golf R had, so don't immediately assume going up a size will net you a bigger boot.

The Golf Estate boot is larger than the Leon one.

Had an XF300 as a courtesy car today. Liked it a lot, but haven’t driven the others, so can’t compare.

Would suggest it’s definitely worth a look at though.

There will always be someone/some people only too eager to bash JLR but they make some decent stuff these days.

Another vote for the Audi S6 C7, for the mileage you are after it will be at the top of your budget for a 2016 reg though.

FWIW the XF Sportbrake boot is 565L, whereas the Golf R/Leon estate boot is 650L.

It's not so much the volume it's the physical dimensions.
The Leon/Cupra boot isn't very deep - which was what was causing the issue.
I need to get my Wife's rigid wheelchair in the boot and it would only go in sideways - which meant it took up the entire boot space.
It would have gone in length ways if the rake of the rear window wasn't so steep either which stopped it shutting as it was touching the wheels.

The MIL has the Fabia estate and that has the same issue.

Do you actually need an estate, or just a huge boot that easily carries a wheelchair?

If it’s the latter, have a look at an Arteon, you’d get almost new high spec car for your budget - see picture 11 for the boot https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

You can get these with the same running gear as the Superb, but they arguably look better inside and out..

Boot isn’t as big as you’d think. Has a weird sloping rear roof which makes for a smaller opening and limited capacity.

Good car otherwise.
