Warm reliable hatches for under £5k
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm currently in the market for a warm hatch, ala Suzuki Swift sport or Zetec S.
I need something reliable and the parts to be fairly reasonable in price when it comes to repairs. Just a quick search has to lead me to these two in terms of desirability and possibly fit my need options. But I have some questions about them.
MK2 Suzuki Swift Sport
Are the Suzuki Swift Sports reliable and a reasonable price when it comes to repair costs. what would I be looking for when it comes to weak points, as this is a car that has caught my interests due to its price to fun ratio, is easy to swap out the head unit as well.
The Mk7 Zetec S has also piqued my interest, the same questions apply to this are they reliable, how much are parts for them? I'm less interested in this due to swapping the headunit or adding a Bluetooth module looks to be quite a task and possibly expensive if I choose to add the Bluetooth module into the existing head unit, instead of swapping it out.
Any options would be greatly appreciated and considered.
Many thanks

I have a Mk2 SSS and it is a cracking little warm hatch to drive, parts are pretty cheap and the only thing that has cost is the major service in the 7 months i've owned it. (£400 quoted but carried it out myself 72k service requires cam spacing to be checked and oil/coolant/gearbox oil and belt replacements)
I came from a Mk7 ST3 fiesta and the power is night and day. You do have to rev these to get the most out of it and ive never seen up 35mpg out of it. Mostly in the 40s with motorways.
Alternator i think needs replacing and again is a nice easy job on the to do list.
I'm currently contemplating changing as i have a v8 itch and rarely do the miles to warrant a small engine anymore! Lexus isf maybe?

Nice, how is working on the car fairly easy? I came from a Mk7 ST3 fiesta and the power is night and day. You do have to rev these to get the most out of it and ive never seen up 35mpg out of it. Mostly in the 40s with motorways.
