Doing well for myself has sort of crept up on me in recent years, and it hardly seems any time at all since I had to buy the basic Celica rather than the GT-Four, and this is maybe why I’ve never sat down and properly worked out which two or three cars would best suit all of my needs.
Looking back over the last two years, I’ve bought,

Audi R8 Plus
Abarth Trofeo
Smart ForTwo Brabus
Tesla Model S P100D
SL63
Smart ForFour
The Audi, Abarth, ForFour and Tesla remain, but my lawyer is fighting the case for a refund because of faults, and I’ve sort of noticed that despite having two babies at home, the only four seater that we have is a ForFour, and that I have two quite expensive two seat sports cars vying for one garage space. The Abarth lives at my home where I work on the continent for now.
I’ve a reservation for both a LHD and RHD Taycan Turbo S, but am hesitating now, as I don’t know if the price is right or if the range and charging network will work for me (I struggled with the Tesla on longer trips).
Anyway, apologies for the ramble.
The question is, which two or three cars can fulfil the current brief?
My wife wants an exceptionally small four seat four or five door car that has to be automatic, and easy to drive.
I want a car (or two) that gives extremely high performance, is a real pleasure to drive, and that can fit in two adults and two children in comfort, along with a decent amount of luggage, and serve as a family car as well as giving me a huge grin when I drive it across the alps to Monaco. And yes,Mathis bit is shallow, but also make me smile again when I come out of the house in the morning and see it parked outside.

I’m getting tempted to get rid of the R8. The main reason to keep it is the idea that they don’t make cars like that any more, but the fact is that they do, as in the current R8, so it’s completely replaceable if I decide that I’ve made a mistake.
