No, I wouldn't.
I've driven thousands of cars (due to a nature of jobs) and Audis have stood out as being so disappointing to drive. I driven a couple of RS3s and the handling is so bad, I dont know why youd want one. I mean seriously. An RS4 or 6, at least you have a longitudinal engine layout and permanent AWD, but they're still no sharp driving tools.
The engine warble is decent and the speed is good, but both wear pretty thin after a while and it's not worth the money IMHO.
Too many others to list to spend that sort of money on.

Having had an unpleasant experience with a Golf R and blokes in balaclavas, I wouldn't. Same goes for a BMW M140i.
However, have you considered a 340i? Looks totally bland and no different to a 318i, but with trip to a tuner will easily see north of 400bhp. Comes in both saloon and estate form. Add the BMW exhaust upgrade (£2,000) and it'll sound awesome.

Absolute tosh. PS it was never stolen or close to being stolen, suggest you get some context re 1000's of cars not stolen vs a few that are.

I'm sure someone quoted the figure at 1 in a 100 stolen or it may have even been 1 in 50 for the RS3, certainly not 1000's and certainly not a consideration to be taken lightly if it's sitting on your drive night after night. TX.

Just got rid of mine. Was a decent car for a daily, nice and compact and sounded awesome with the sports exhaust (although the newer cars don't sound half as good).
Wasn't what I'd car a fun car to drive though but very capable in all weathers - which is what I wanted as a daily in our mostly crappy climate.

Mainstream manufacturer
Not French ( I know devisive)
Quirky engine, not blown 4 pot
Not too horrendous on the depreciation
The rest is kind of subjective, I havent explored any options, hence putting it here for discussion;

If you can cope without the hatchback practicality a TTRS will give you similar performance and a similar drive and not be quite as much of a theft risk, I think, feel free to correct that.
I think all performance cars, especially German ones have a risk attached regarding theft but they do seem to prefer the 4wd option.
If you need a car for criminal activities then a 5 door RS3 fits the bill perfectly, same for the S3 and Golf R as the 4wd means it can be driven very, very quickly, whatever the weather, and M140i in the wet is just poles apart in terms of capability. RWD with 340 plus bhp through an open diff means its one wheel drive a lot of the time, may as well be in any other one series as progress wouldnt be massively far off, and crossing a wet field is just not an option. Evading the Police in the wet in an M140i is a lot harder than in one of the 4WD VAG models.
Plus with the Hot VW/Audis, all the bits fit lesser models, with the BMW it isnt massively different, no fancy wingback seats, wheels arent that desirable, bumpers arent that sought after and who is going to get all excited over silver mirror casings ?
Not saying they dont get nicked but they just dont have as many uses.

I assume you’re looking at used? In which case, an AMG C63 would tick all those boxes and more, as well as being a whole bunch more interesting than an RS3 One family car
