What car(s) to cover all these bases on a budget of £25,000?

Requirements are:

1. Fast and comfortable cruising over long distances.
2. Room for plenty of luggage and four adults.
3. Fun to drive for driving's sake on sunny days.

Two (is it possible in two?), three or four cars considered, 4x4 a bonus but not a necessity, convertible desirable but not a requirement.

Last year I bought a 2003 Jaguar X350 and a brand new MX5 to fulfil exactly this brief, for a bit more than your budget. Works perfectly for me!

It's very possible does the fun car have to seat four? It also depends on what you want from your high days & holidays car, I find that having something different from the weekend toys makes me want to drive them rather than just using my daily.

I'm assuming not so for the fun car I'd recommend theses:

Honda S2000

S3 TVR

2.7 Cayman

The four seater options are these won't necessarily be the sharpest handling but they'll be fast & comfortable:

VXR8

Leftfield:

Hyundai Genesis these are overlooked but when it comes to spec & wafting these are hard to beat

One car fits all options:

Panamera Turbo

Alpina B5

S7

CLS63 AMG

M5

Now I'm not sure if it's your cup of tea but if you want a truly epic high days & holidays vehicle then one of these would be my pick as nothing will provide more thrills & put as big a smile on your face but I'm bias smile

We run an E class and an Elise. Combined with a short range electric, that’s all bases covered except 7 seater or off roading.

I think I'd be tempted to an S212 AMG or possibly a very early S213 if you can stretch the budget, plus a Clio 182 Trophy for high days.

I had a C55 AMG plus 986 Boxster, C55 swapped for a 66 Fiesta now swapped for a Seat Arona, both leases. C55 plus Boxster comfortably under £20k leaving change for another car! I did have a moped as well.

Well I'm working to a smaller budget, but I have an E90 BMW 330i as a daily and a Z4M Coupe for special occasions but that combination works pretty well for me.
