Buying a VW GTI...6 owners? Gear box replacement?
Discussion
Hello all, would love some experienced comments, advice on a VW tsi gti dsg mk 6, 70k, 59 plate, petrol, semi auto. It's has 5 owners, new reburbished gear box. Had an oil leak at 2012, other general wear and tear with most recently the coils being replaced. On the market for 8.4k. Buying from a reputable garage but you just never know. Do they run sweet? Why 5 owners over 10 years? All comments welcomed if honest, genuine and constructive. Currently drive a Mercedes a200, and someone can take the keys now! That's how I feel about it.
The box would worry me, any warranty from who rebuilt it/replaced it?
Remember, most used car warranties only cover stuff that breaks.
They wouldn't cover a gearbox for making a noise, or not changing quite how it should.
Most warranty companies would just say "it hasn't failed, it's wear and tear unless it fails"

I'd run (look elsewhere/harder) if I were you. It isn't a high maintenance & high running costs sports car, so multiple owners would say to me it has a decent whiff of wrong 'un about it.
I wouldn't go for a MK VI anyway, personally, as not much to like IMHO. Better to go for a loved 5 or stretch the budget to a 7, both better overall propositions in their own way
