a new Velar vs GLC Coupe vs X4m vs Macan dilema...

Am looking at treating myself for 2-3 years with a new car (will be PCP/PCH). I've got up to 4.5k down and around £600 pcm.
I'll be doing 15-20k per year (unfortunately) so that will limit what I can afford but having been sniffing around for a while, I (& SWMBO) like the look of the Velar, GLC Coupe, X4 & Macan.
I think I'd be better off going for a diesel (which would rule out the Macan) but I could be persuaded.
However, apart from some dodgy goings on with Velar electrics & QC and the Merc's steering issues (not sure if it's been fixed for the new 2020 model) I don't really know much more about them.
So, can any PH'ers throw in their 2 pennies worth about them (apart from the obvious X4/Coupe shape love it or hate it) and help me decide?

From the list, I'd go with either the GLC coupe or X4, probably the GLC.
I'd avoid the Land Rover as there are far too many stories - I was just told today of an expensive steering issue with an Evoque and a mate had his Disco 5 flatbed recovered to dealer with electrical fault..its been 3 weeks, can't sort it.
Not saying the others are perfect..but the JLR unreliability stereotype sometimes seems real.
I'm not a fan of Audis but noticed they can be cheap for lease. Q5?

Do the new Alfa’s still have reliability issues or is that a thing of the past?
The Maserati looks amazing but I’ve heard it’s shockingly expensive to run - and 20k Miles a year won’t help that unfortunately.
I guess I could add an SQ5 into the mix - so it’d be that vs an X4M vs a GLC Coupe....
Perhaps I’ll leave the petrol Macan and the Velar to one side....

And the Velar does ~30 mpg, if you are concerned about economy don't buy an SUV (handbag)(edited because the person I asked does a lot of short trips)

I had a previous gen 262 RLine superb and understated, it’s V6 Diesel economy is probably no worse if not better than any of the above.
For half the money I’d also consider an R Line Tiguan, if badges don’t phase you then a Diesel Kodiaq SEL trim or above is a nice place to be whilst averaging around 49mpg....

HSE spec so a nice place to be too.
In 18k miles i've not had to call the breakdown services
No rattles or squeaks, the body coloured cover on the door handle popped off once on opening but that just clipped back on.
Did get a bolt through the tyre last night.... that ones gonna sting a little.

Anyway, thanks for the info - I think an SE would be pretty much tops for me but the HSE looks fab!
