5K daily

Looking at possibly replacing a 09 Fiesta this year with a budget of around 5k. Have had no problems with the car whatsoever which has been an absolute joy, but the pain of a 12 second 0-60bacceleration is taking its toll. Mainly motorway driving will be done(32mile round trip) for work.

Only requirements I have are
- faster than 10 seconds
-reliable
-comfortable? Shouldn't be hard coming from fiesta seats
- be able to carry 4 people on occasion

Thinking of maybe holding out longer term if nothing tickles my fancy and getting an electric car in 2021 (Peugeot 208e?) on a company lease. Any advice appreciated

You should be able to find a decent Swift Sport (14/15 plate) for that sort of money - ticks all those boxes

I have a 2015 SSS for that.

Mileage isnt an issue as its as bulletproof as you can get if serviced well.

7-8 Sec 0-60 and 40ish mpg.

Was the best little car i could find and is a good daily.

What's the servicing routine/maintenance costs like? I didn't really think of these as thought they would be way more. Anything specifically to look out for?

Was in same dilemma, but I had 3k budget

Bagged a Saab 2011 1.9 TTid (twin turbo) £30 tax, for £3100

0-60...not sure but pretty irrelevant on the motorway, torque is king here, and it has 400nm!

Pretty rapid piece of metal, and perfect motorway companion (most people would agree in this environment) The seats are ridiculously comfortable!

Alot of car for the ££££, and different to the usual stuff you see. I'm happy with mine, it gets used purely for motorways and work, 3/400 miles weekly then gets parked up at weekend, and I use my E91 318d estate for everything else.

It has 100k on it, but lower mileage examples are hovering around £4/4.5k - worth a look, low tax examples don't hang around long.

I'm going to go leftfield & not go for a petrol but grab a good diesel with this in mind I'd say look at the CLK320cdi Sport, I'm bias because I had one (& it was a great car) it was bulletproof/fast/comfortable (they come with orthopedic seats) & respond well to a remap.

9k service schedule and easy enough to do!
Just gone through the 2nd major on mine, did the plugs and oil myself and got the garage to to the gearbox oil and cam check. Filters are super easy and cheap too!

Super simple 1.6 engine and good build quality inside. Engine are bulletproof and nothing really to go wrong with them.

I went for the 2015 as it was the newest with the nav.

I'm contemplating selling mine as I'm thinking of accepting a job abroad and would be after 5k.

Mileage for me wasn't an issue as reliability was my main concern and I went for the most reliable!

Major services at a main dealer aren't cheap, because they include checking the valve clearances. A lot of owners and garages don't bother with that though. Otherwise costs are reasonable and reliability is good.
They are mechanically simple cars and are relatively easy to work on. I don't think there are any significant common faults. Be aware that the paintwork is soft (as with many Japanese cars) and the tyres (195/45 R17) are an unusual size.

Focus Titanium X 1.6 Ecoboost 148PS Swift but still refined. has cruise, heated seats and climate.

Another Focus, this time the 182PS version. Very rare in Red. No cruise or heated seats on this one but another 30HP on top of the Titanium X above. A decent steer too. I have a Zetec S 182, check my thread in Readers cars.
