I'm doing that boring car purchase thing - trying to pull costs down and as predictable as possible.
A Ceed SW 1.4 petrol would just work for us.
We tend to buy cars and keep as long as we can.

What are folks experiences of Kia warranty, in year 5,6,7...?

I fully understand clutch and brakes are not going to be covered. But last time I had a warranty (1997!) the company tried the shirk out of everything.

I had a full headlight changed in year 5 (more than £800) and a few other bits in year 6. This was on a used car that was never serviced by KIA.

As long as the car has been serviced as per the schedule then you won't have any issues, I'd suggest trying to find a 1.6 as the extra (especially when loaded) go will make itself felt.

Our dealer was faultless when it came to warranty. Even got 2 new diamond cut wheels due to tiny amounts of whiteworm on 3 year old wheels.

We bought our picanto at 6 years old privately. It developed an issue with the locks, sorted under warranty plus the car cleaned etc as you expect from a main dealer.

Couldn't fault the dealer.

They replaced drop links on my 5 year old Cee'd without any argument.

A colleague had the rear diff explode spectacularly on a Sportage at around 5 years old. The car was serviced sporadically at her local backstreet garage, yet surprisingly KIA sorted it without any hassle.

I suspect they are currently enjoying the new level of success and will be pushing to maintain integrity on the long term warranty deal, as it is a key sales point.

Given a few more years, things may change.

It is encouraging to hear them covering the longer years, as in my head, I always thought they would do the usual to wriggle out of anything.

Wheel Bearing and Drop Link on my 2008 Ceed at 5-6 Years old.
Nothing else went wrong with it until 102K.
Sold to a Colleague and still going strong on around 190K.

I still look on the Kia Forum and the only grey area seems to be corroding Alloys.

On our third Kia, tho only owned till approx 3–4 years old.

Our local dealer (Kia Bolton) are great - nothing is too much trouble, always sorted without fuss - not that they have needed much more than servicing.

Absolutely trouble free motoring, and better built / to drive than they should be for “white goods” cars (two picanto’s and a soul).

The 7 year warranty has been around for 10 years and always gets good reports as above. What makes you think “things may change” The warranty is based on the same premise as the Hyundai 5 year deal which has been around for nearly 20 years. I would say they are well backed

Bolton have a good reputation. Some Owners travel to use them !!! I think they are Kia owned rather than Franchise.
I used RRG Bury and Chapelhouse Warrington for mine. No problems with either but mainly just for Service

We've ran our rio since 2012. Ex demo bought at 6 months/400 miles. Now 7.5 years old and on 105k miles. Never had a warranty claim rejected. One or two I had to contact kia customer care for a second opinion.

I've got a readers ride thread going. We're looking for a newer model to replace our current one as the family daily but it will stay with us as a third car when the time comes.

Only thing I'd say it seems they are tightening up on the service history now. Anything with a dubious one is being looked into & more claims are being rejected.(rightly so aswell)

We've had bad experience with our local dealers Bury & Burnley. So will be only dealing with Bolton or Stockport in the future as heard very good things about both
