Ideas for a fun, cheap little runaround for a new driver
Discussion
Hi everyone,
My niece is nearly 17 and will soon be learning how to drive (god that makes me feel old). She'll probably be closer to 18 by the time she's ready to pass and I'd love to surprise her with a car.
Now I'm certainly not made of money so it can't be anything too expensive, but I am somewhat handy with a socket set so I don't mind doing a bit of work on it myself.
At the moment I'm looking at Vauxhall Tigra convertibles. They come as a 1.4 so should hopefully be cheap on insurance. My Mum has had one for years and I've always found it a fun little car, reliable and cheap to work on. I'm finding examples of less then a grand with low miles, heated leather seats etc. It's one of those cars that to her mates probably looks more expensive than it is.
However I am open to ideas if anybody has any suggestions. Of course it can't be anything crazy expensive or fast due to insurance, but I'd love to get her something a bit more exciting then your average first car.
