What 1-1.5k car for low miles?

Hello all,

Girlfriend is having to give up her Kia Picanto next week, brought for £450 18 months and wont get through the next MOT and not worth spending the money on so its done its job.

She is going to give up a car for a bit, but feels like she is losing her independence so will be looking to pick up another car in the next 3-4 months.

Main points:

- Budget up to 1.5k
- 5 Doors (for any inevitable kids in the future, she keeps harping on about it if it was up to me it wouldn't be for another 5 years at least )
- Petrol, car will be doing less than 5k miles a year easily
- £145 tax bracket max

the normal search is throwing up Aygo/C1/107, I had an Aygo and it was a great first car if uninspiring and I don't think she's to keen on the idea.

I have also heard good things about the Fiat Panda, they seem to be fairly spacious for a small car, then there's always the Fiesta/Focus.

What would you be going for? Or is there anything I have overlooked?

If you're looking for a future family car then look past an Aygo sized & looking for a Focus sized car.
