Which V8 SUV should I get???

Hi everyone. I currently own a Jaguar XF-R and love it. However I could do with the extra space of a 4x4 now. The Jag doesn't have great rear seat space for the size it is. So I'm looking to sell my XFR and get a 4x4. I've been looking mainly at 4.2 Supercharged Range Rover Sport and also the Jeep Grand cherokee Srt8. Which of these two cars would be best to own and run as a daily driver. Mpg is not an issue as I normally do 5000 miles a year. Would love to put my sensible head on and buy a diesel model, but after 5 years of XfR ownership, I'd miss the noise tbh. Thanks everyone

4x4 interior packaging is not necessarily great unless you get a long wheel base model where rear space has been emphasised (I think a recent Range Rover has this feature). What about an estate car with a big engine?

SRT8 with a supercharger.

The diesel V8 Range Rovers are still pretty brisk with 0-60 in the 6s.

First gen X5 4.8 with an x pipe. Cheap, and sounds epic, proper burbler.

Can you still get an XC90 with a V8? Would be my choice if you want mega practicality.

No, all Volvos are not limited to a 2.0 4-cylinder petrol as the largest engine, but you can have the electric motors bolted in as well

Timely thread...

This afternoon I’m trading in my Jag XFS for a Cayenne S as I have that V8 itch I want to scratch.

After a bit of research they seem to be well screwed together and this one has had the common issues addressed with the previous owner.

Can’t comment on it yet but I can say that I’m bloody excited to pick it up.

I've had a 4.2 supercharged RRS for a couple of years now. If you can live with the questionable image and plasticky centre console, they're great cars. I've spent just over 1k on servicing and repairs since I got it and do around 15-20k per year. It's never had any major issues: just consumables and the odd sensor. It's pretty much the perfect all rounder really - fast, comfortable and good off road.

FYI, the EML I mentioned at the end of the thread was fixed with a $30 throttle position sensor off ebay.

With my hillbilly hotrodder head on, its got to be the SRT, for the epic engine, and the fact that the RRS is just well.....a bit naff.

But, with my sensible head on, and if it was my money, as others have said, has to be the Cayenne.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I've been looking at a few full fat RR's and must say the supercharged ones are very tempting. Think I'll have a test drive of a few of your suggestions and think on it for a while longer. The rear seat space isn't great in the XfR no, but I'm not too keen on estate cars, they've never really done it for me tbh. The cayenne I've not really studied at all yet. Not a massive fan of the looks especially the earlier models. But I'll do a bit more research on them also. Thanks again for all the replies guys, this is a great forum.
